Embattled A-League club Brisbane Roar will return to the training base they were evicted from last year to host an FFA Cup tie next month.Details for the knockout tournament were confirmed on Tuesday, with the Roar locked in to face Perth Glory at Ballymore Stadium on August 10 for their first-ever home FFA Cup match. The Roar trained out of Ballymore for several years, but were kicked out last year when the Queensland Rugby Union took legal action against the club due to unpaid rent.It has long been favoured as a football venue by supporters because of its smaller, more intimate nature in comparison to the cavernous Suncorp Stadium - but a tense relationship between the two sports, and a reluctance shown by previous Roar administrators, has meant only pre-season matches have been staged there during the A-League era.The Roar are currently in a state of flux following news last month that the club would be sold by owners the Bakrie Group to a new mystery consortium, headed by Melbourne businessman and former A-League club sponsor Daniel Cobb.Meanwhile, the third edition of the FFA Cup will begin on July 27, with last years semi-finalists Hume Citys clash against four-time National Soccer League champions Marconi Stallions the marquee opening match, along with games in Darwin, Cairns and Sydney that evening. The tournament will continue on August 2 and August 3, while the Wollongong Wolves high-profile clash against Sydney FC is also set for August 10 at WIN Stadium.
