DENVER -- Six months ago, the Colorado Buffaloes were content for Sefo Liufau to take his time recovering from left foot surgery because Texas Tech transfer Davis Webb was insisting hed be wearing the black and gold this fall. Then, Webb spurned the Buffaloes for the Cal Bears.Suddenly, Liufaus determination to make a lightning-quick recovery from a Lisfranc injury was a blessing for the Buffs, who open their season Friday night against Colorado State at soon-to-be-renamed Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Its a small miracle that hes back, maybe a big miracle for as many Lisfrancs you read about and that Ive been around, Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre said. ... Sefo never really went home. He stayed and was here every day. He would pay his own money to fly to Portland to work with his own passing coach to help keep everything going while he was down. Its helped his velocity on the ball and his accuracy. Hes worked tirelessly.Im excited hes back. Hes looked good in practice. Im looking forward to him having the year that hes earned.Liufaus dogged determination to make it back for his senior season has rubbed off on his teammates, too. They see that heightened intensity, MacIntyre said. When they see other people overcome things with the work ethic and the time they have to put into it, they understand it. If you know your friends hopes and dreams, and you can help him reach them, then youre going to do a little more to reach his hopes and dreams. Thats what I see that Sefo has done with this team.Other things to watch in the Rocky Mountain Showdown:WHOS THE QB?: Colorado State coach Mike Bobo isnt saying who will be under center for the Rams: Georgia transfer Faton Bauta, incumbent Nick Stevens or even freshman Colin Hill. Bobo said the advantage is that all three prepare as though theyre the starter. Plus, Colorados coaches cant hone in on just one.I might gain an extra hour on (Buffs defensive coordinator) Jim Leavitt trying to find tape on Faton Bauta or Jim Leavitt watching the high school film to see what kind of player Collin Hill was in high school, Bobo said. Was he a guy who ran or was he drop-back guy? To find out arm strength. Is he an intermediate passer? Can he stretch the ball down field? I would think they are going to watch a little bit more tape. You better have a plan for your guys. Thats the reason.RIVAL RAMS: Buffaloes linebacker Jimmy Gilbert isnt sure this is such a rivalry: Yes and no. The reason I say no is because we go week-by-week so every week is a rivalry week for us, he said. We try to give each opponent we have respect, and if you treat your opponent with respect youll learn about your opponent. The Rams have a similar philosophy but Bobo doesnt buy the notion that its just another game to the Buffs.I heard they really didnt care about playing us too much last year, Bobo said. They really acted like they cared when they won the game. ... Its one game of 12. But you arent naive enough not to say that its an important game.NOW OR NEVER: MacIntyres future in Boulder probably hinges on Colorado earning its first bowl bid since 2007, and right now hes talking up his teams chances this season.I really like this football team; Ive said it a lot. I get excited when I talk about this football team. This is by far the most talent and the best football weve had in the four years Ive been here, MacIntyre said. Now weve got to go do it on Saturdays, and Friday nights and Thursday nights.YOUNG AND RESTLESS: Bobo says the Buffs have the age advantage: They have a lot of returning players. Theyve got some experience, a lot of senior leadership and they want to make a mark and have a successful season, he said.Said MacIntyre: Ive been hearing about how young CSU is, but they have 16 seniors on the two-deep and we have 16 seniors. We have six freshmen in our two-deep and they have four freshman in their two-deep. Im not buying that they arent a good football team; theyre a really good football team. Their offensive line kicked our butt last year; (Dalyn) Dawkins ran all over us.NEW RECEIVERS: Last years game featured two of the nations best receivers in CUs Nelson Spruce, now with the Los Angeles Rams, and CSUs Rashard Higgins, now with the Cleveland Browns. So, its time for new receivers to come out of their shadows. The Rams are relying on Xavier Williams, Elroy Masters Jr. and Sammie Long IV to step up. The Buffs are looking to Devin Ross, Shay Fields and Bryce Bobo to make up for Spruces departure.---AP college football site: http://collegefootball.ap.orgPatriots Jerseys 2019 . They hope to persuade the other team owners and commissioner Roger Goodell to put pressure on Redskins owner Daniel Snyder to drop the nickname they find offensive. "Given the way the meeting transpired," Ray Halbritter, an Oneida representative and leader of the "Change the Mascot Campaign," said Wednesday, "it became somewhat evident they were defending the continued use of the name. Now tied for second in the league in shootout goals, the 24-year-old likes to see what the opposing goaltender has in store before he ultimately lands on a move. Custom New England Patriots Jerseys . The Barrie Colts defenceman, who impressed many with his play for Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship, is the top-ranked skater in the February rankings. He has 19 goals and 24 assists for 43 points in 45 games with the Colts this season. New England Patriots Store . Schenn scored the game-winning goal and added two assists to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-1 win over the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Tuesday.Brent Seabrook scored in overtime, again, and the Chicago Blackhawks won Game Four, 6-5 over the Boston Bruins, evening the series at two games apiece. Seabrook, who has three goals and four points in the entire playoffs, has two overtime winners, his earlier one coming in Game Seven of the second round against Detroit. The Blackhawks outshot the Bruins 47-33, tying Bostons worst shot deficit (-14) in a game this postseason. The Bruins had a shot deficit of minus-14 or worse twice in the 2013 regular season. Chicago shook up their lines heading into Game Four, putting Patrick Kane on the right side with Jonathan Toews at centre and Bryan Bickell on the left wing. The results were favourable, as Kane had a goal and an assist, Bickell had two assists and, not only did Toews score a goal, but his positioning in front of the Boston net was instrumental to Seabrooks game-winning goal. Kane, Toews and Seabrook were plus-2 for the game, while Bickell and Duncan Keith were both plus-3. As the Blackhawks basically didnt use D Nick Leddy, playing him a total of 2:37, it was imperative to get a strong performance from veteran Michal Rozsival, who had two assists, was plus-3 and had strong possession numbers while playing 26:36, second-most on the Blackhawks, behind Keiths 32:37. Bruins D Andrew Ference struggled in the possession Game Wednesday, spending most of his night matched up against Chicagos second line of Patrick Sharp, Michal Handzus and Marian Hossa. Sharp had a game-high eight shots on goal and scored the Blackhawks fifth goal. Bruins C Patrice Bergeron scored twice and ledd the Bruins with six shots on goal, though he was minus-2.dddddddddddd. RW Tyler Seguin, LW Brad Marchand and D Zdeno Chara were minus-3 for the game. Chara was a minus-3 once in the regular season and its the first time in the playoffs hes finished worse than minus-1 in a game. Chara and Bruins RW Jaromir Jagr each contributed a pair of assists. On for two goals for and still minus-3, Chara was on the ice for five goals against. Bickell led the Blackhawks with six hits; Bruins LW Milan Lucic had a game-high eight hits and D Dennis Seidenberg registered seven. With the series now even, and heading back to Chicago, the advantage slides to the Blackhawks, but its ever so slight. There is such a razor-thin line between winning and losing in a series that has seen three of the first four games go to overtime, that neither team has a decided edge. The Blackhawks simply have to like being even in the series with the opportunity to get matchups on home ice in two of the remaining three games in the series. If they also happened to figure out how to beat Bruins G Tuukka Rask (who still leads the playoffs with a .941 save percentage), that could play in their favour. This series has been all about ebbs and flows, though, with momentum gained and lost over the course of single games. Its a wonderfully competitive matchup, so pretty great that there will be at least two more games between Boston and Chicago.
